Rationale for a trailer .......
ReplyDeleteThe trailer doesn't just bring the skis and poles to races. It also brings our 50lb tent, a 75lb generator that we need at most races other than in Canmore, the 20lb sandbags for the tent (x4 80lbs) the 50+ skis and poles that we pack (over 300lbs total), our 2 wax boxes that are 75lbs each (150lbs), our wax benches that are 22lbs each (44lbs), our ski holder that is 7lbs and any other incidentals such as drills and such that are usually an extra 15-30lbs. All of this weight (~750lbs/350kg) in vehicles adds to people's gas and wear and tear on their vehicles. When we went to Red Deer last year, for example- the trailer housed all of this equipment, we could leave it at the venue locked with all of our equipment in it. Then at 5:45am I could go out and find everything that I needed and have skis prepared for the athletes, on time, with everything there. It was very convenient and helpful to have this and it saved people from bringing their big trucks that could take the equipment but is more expensive on families, in the long run.
