February 22-28th, 2021.

Senior team, please put this on your radars/mark it in your schedules: Ivan Babikov from Nordiq Alberta will be coming up to Grande Prairie March 4-5 during teacher's convention, for a 2 day camp with our team! If parents can organize rides, lunches and changes of clothing for their athletes, athletes will be outside or in the lodge for the duration of the days.

Juniors, I don't want you to miss out, however full days will be too much for you guys. Details to come, but we will definitely get you time with Ivan as well! It's a great opportunity for us and I'm grateful that we can host Ivan. Coaches Nathan and Claire will be present for the duration of the camp as well!

Thank you to all athletes and parents who helped out with the duathlon! What a fun day! Great job everyone who participated!

The lodge will be open around 5pm by Coach Doris, for anyone who can get in before practice and glide wax their skis. I recommend glide waxing what we're not using for that day, to ensure that you have skis ready to go.

Tuesday: Skate skiing. U14's + will be reviewing the lower 5km with Coaches Shannon and Claire; U12's and juniors will be with Coaches Theresa and Doris going over the aspens.

Thursday: Skate skiing: pickups/ interval sets. Senior Team please start your warmup and be back in the stadium for 6:10pm. Juniors you also will be working on some speed work.

Saturday: We are going to be doing an old school skiathlon. Race Start will be 8am to ensure that we are cleared out of the stadium for 10:30. Racers, you will be in charge of your own warm-up, waxing, and ensuring that you have your chocolate milk etc. I will need a few parents to help out please- dress warmly- they are all standing around jobs. Now Environment Canada isn't very positive about the weather- so details will remain tentative... and I will remain hopeful! Athletes come when you think is appropriate and with enough time to set up you transition zones, warm up and wax 2 pairs of skis.

What is an old school skiathlon??: We will start with a classic race- everyone does 2 laps of their course, then will come into their select slot that matches their bib #, change their boots (if you have combi boots and are U14 and older, you will need to take off your boots, put them on the mat, and then put them back on again), switch out your ski gear and then go out and race 2 laps of your same course again, but skate skiing. Make sense? We will be answering questions on Thursday and when you arrive on Saturday, you can see the setup. I recommend leaving only what you need in your transition spots including a bottle of water.
