Feb 18-23, 2020.

What an amazing weekend at the Alberta Winter Games, Wapiti represented Zone 8 really well!!! Those of you who were unable to join us, were missed a lot and we look forward to seeing you this week at practice!!!

For those of you planning on going to Camrose, please register here before midnight on Wednesday. Also, please note: when registering your athlete our club is Wapiti Nordic and there is NO team. A few of you have your athlete in as a team and every time I pick up the bibs, we have a mix up. Please change this on your automatic registration forms. Also, please note- your athlete age group won’t automatically load this time and you will need to select your age group of your athlete. Most athletes know now which age group they are racing in.

Tuesday: Classic practice. Third of you going to Camrose need to prep your skate skis. Rex Blue on your skis please and have them scraped. Plan to spend a bit of extra time at practice please to have this completed.

Thursday: Classic practice. We will do some sprint work and then wax our skate skis.

Saturday: Those of you NOT attending the races in Camrose, coach Theresa will be running practice from 10-12. Happy training guys!!

Friday: meet in Camrose at the ski club: Stoney Creek Centre. Camrose Alberta 5320-39 Ave. At 2:00pm to ski the sprint and distance courses. We will have a team meeting- details will be shared via Teamsnap.

Please print off the race plan sheet found on TeamSnap for each athlete, for each race so that they get used to using this.

Saturday: Race day- Skate Sprints- this is a long day. Please remember to rest after the qualifiers and treat the qualifier race as 1 race and then do all of the prep all over again for the heats. Ensure that you have food for the day. Please follow your athlete's race plan developed as a team, the day before. This plan will help you plan for your day as well. Once the races are over and the team is done racing, then you can head back to your hotel. It's nice for the racers to have teammates out on the trails cheering for them while they're racing. So bring a change of clothing and warm clothing.

Please plan on the team supper- we have a table booked for the team, thank you Jennifer Martin for organizing this! It’s at the Norsemen Inn and Hagar's Cafe
6505 -48 ave, 780-672-9171 @ 5:30pm Saturday night, $16-17/person.

Sunday: Race day- Classic Mass Start, Distance. As we're only 5-6 hours away, please plan on staying until the end of all of the races to cheer each other on. These races are much smaller than Canmore and are a really nice venue to race at and to support each other at.
