November 29- December 5th, 2021

  1. Hoodie draft is in and the colour is actually more a true red, then a deep red as I had originally thought. I have pictures for us and then once the final decision is in, we will start sizing (same brand as last time, so please bring your old hoodie in to help with sizing) and then I'll get payment etc. Parents welcome to join in this order also. Hoodie brand is Russell.
  2. Lodge is now open to the public and so we need to keep our gear over by the far wall by the door that no one really uses. But separated...
  3. Ski Club memberships are due the end of this month! Ensure that you have your membership and that your fees are paid up please.

It's racing season!!!  😎 (guess who just found the new emoji button on the blog!!!) 👍

This weekend will be our first race of 18 planned races- holy moly! We're making up for last year that's for sure. 😁 Just a reminder that you are in charge of waxing your own skis for local races, the coaches wax your skis for away races. This way you get experience of why sometimes your wax isn't great. 😂 I'll have the lodge open at 8:30am on Saturday, unless you'd like more time, message me. If you come to the lodge earlier on Tuesday or Thursday though, you will have access to the wax room before practices.

Tuesday: Everyone meet inside for the start of practice. Wear a mask or double buff please. Reminder that there's a max number of occupants inside and the team in full is 25 right now, with 5 coaches. We will be skate skiing for practice afterwards working on off set and how to get the most out of your poles.

Thursday: Plan is for classic- but it's not looking super hopeful. Be prepared for both techniques. Remember to come to practice earlier please to wax your classic skis!

Saturday: Skate Race 10:00am start, see below for your personal start time. If you know that you won't be able to make it to practice, please let me know asap. 30 second interval starts- as you will be waxing your skis before the race, I suggest showing up with 40 min to wax your skis, 20-40min warm up before your start time and time for snacks, water and pee break. You do the math, and show up on time, for you. If you show up 30 min or less, before the race, I will not allow you to race. I will speak more about this at practice, but it's really important to prepare properly for a race and what that looks like, practice helps refine the process.

Distances: I plopped you into the distance I think would be good for you to have some competition, even if it's a bit longer/shorter than you're used to. See the start list. If you have any concerns, please let me know.

Athletes are expected to do a cool down, so invite a few athletes with you, when you're done racing to do your cool down ski. Drink chocolate milk BEFORE doing the cool down and go for 3km ski.

*I highly recommend a nice 1hour+ ski on Sunday to ski out your racing legs.
