November 28- December 4th, 2022.

I'm really not sure how December starts this week and Halloween was just a week ago... 🤯 Anyway...

There are lots of details in this blog. Please pay attention to each bullet- they're for everyone!

  1. November 30th is the deadline for a 10% discount to a Wapiti Nordic Ski Club Membership. Every athlete requires a membership to be able to use the ski trails and the lodge. Please do this before the 30th by clicking HERE
  2. Hoodies have been ordered and for those parents who are not aware, as all the tickets were sold for the fundraiser, the hoodies are free to the team this year. I don't know when they will be ready.
  3. Race Season is just around the corner... Amanda set us up with signup genius for team suppers. Please sign up for something and bring it in a crockpot style dish to keep warm. Nothing fancy- athletes just need to be fed. 😃 To sign up click on the link HERE. If you have any questions please just ask one of the coaches.
  4. Those athletes wanting to tryout for Arctic Winter Games will need to register. Please fill in the forms with AS MUCH detail as you can. This will help the selection process go smoothly. Athletes, you can take the time to fill in your athlete profiles- not your parents. Parents I recommend that you double check their work please. 😉 You can access athlete registration HERE.
  5. Those athletes who are U16 and older (born in 2008 or older) will need a Nordiq Canada Racing Licence. Registration is completed on this SITE and then will be required for the next step.
  6. Those of you intending to try out for Arctic Winter Games and to race in Canmore, need to register HERE. Please double check your age category and DO NOT assume that the computer knows what category to put your athlete in. I put Mika in an age group older last year and am still not living that one down... Registration closes on Dec 6th with fees increasing on Dec 4th.
  7. Weather- although the temperatures are dropping this week, there will be practice for seniors (inside) and most likely not for juniors. Please double check HERE on the Environment Canada website and the blog for 4:00pm.

TUESDAY: Skate Skiing- rock skis; unless there's more accumulation of snow than what we've received so far. Seniors- get out and do a 20min race prep warm up. Meet in the stadium for 6:05pm. Juniors, if the temperature is not -20 at 4pm, please dress appropriately to be outside for practice. You will be skating as well. ALL ATHLETES MUST HAVE A BUFF AND TOQUE ON!! If athletes are not dressed appropriately, they will be left in the lodge and parents will be asked to come and pick up their athletes.

THURSDAY: Inside AT THE LODGE- bring runners and be prepared for inside workout. I would like this workout to be made a priority for ALL senior team athletes please. I know that life is busy etc, but I would like to get the seniors together for some much needed time together.

SATURDAY: Classic Skiing- (-25 is the cutoff for seniors) Please dress warmly and we will hopefully see you out on the trails. If it's too cold- I may move the practice time to allow for the temperatures to warm up a bit for us. I will send out a TeamSnap if this is the case.

Welcome to Winter everyone! ❆
