December 29-January 4, 2026
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break and are looking forward to the start of the new year! How quickly time fies and I am so shocked that there are just 3 months left in our season!! This snow has been amazing, the trails are in incredible shape and racing season is just getting started!
Lots going on this coming month with deadlines quickly approaching. If you're wanting to participate in the provincial camp in Tawatinaw, that is occuring the weekend after next. If you're wanting to volunteer with the Calforex Cup, there's still time to email Liz @ wapitibiathlonevents@gmail.com. Registration for the Red Deer race will be up shortly, so ensure that you've registered for that event. To those athletes who have qualified for the Alberta Winter Games- please ensure that you're registered in the coming 10 days.

Tuesday: Practice will be from 5:45-7:15. Classic skiing- distance tempo ski. Bring a headlamp and water bottle.
Thursday: The annual New Year's Day Lap and Furious New Years Resolution race will be happening from 2:30-4. The event has historically been 90 minutes of skiing- and see how far you can ski in that time. Temperature cut-off will be -20 on Environment Canada website by 1:00pm. Come before 2:30 as this is the start of the event. Course is still TBD- due to all the beautiful snow (and difficulty for groomers to keep up). Finishing time and laps will be counted by Coach Claire and provided to you at the end of the event. Hot chocolate will be provided after the race.
Saturday: 10-12- I think we're meeting in the timing tower from here on in. I'm guessing classic still. There's a lot of snow flakes in the forecast!! Bring your waterbelts, a snack for yourself, and energy!!
