TO DO:

  1. Alberta Winter Games trials are this coming weekend! If you are NOT trying out, please come and do your interval sets on the race course. 😄 See how I did that? If you are trying out, there is no registration until you make the team, then you will need to register and pay the $80 registration fee- which will be emailed out to you!
  2. If you are planning on trying out for the Arctic Winter Games team, registration is open for the Alberta Cup Races in Canmore. Please register here and if you're U16 and older you MUST have a Nordiq Canada race licence found here. Happy registering- we will need 3 days of day passes, and parents if you're wanting to ski as well, please add in your day licenses to your athlete's registration as it's cheaper than purchasing one at the day lodge. Yes, you will need to pay for the snow enhancement fee (everyone does).
  3. If you are driving down to Canmore you will need to purchase a Kananaskis park license (if you attended nationals last year, yours is still valid until next March- FYI) and are planning on attending Western Canadian Championships the end of January in Canmore, I'd suggest getting an annual membership as it's cheaper and is good for 365 days from purchasing (so wait until you show up in Canmore to do this). You can purchase this here.
  4. There will be a Sign-up Genius email for meals for waxing nights. Please put your name down to help with the meals. Thank you in advance!
  5. UPDATE: Christmas break dates if you can make it work: We will practice Dec 23 1-3pm; Dec 27 10-12; Dec 30 5:45-7:15; Jan 1: 1-4pm (NYD Race); Jan 3 10-12.

TIMECHANGE! PRACTICE STARTS ON SNOW AT 5:45-7:15. BRING YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT, WAX, AND BE ON SNOW ON TIME!!

Tuesday: Meet at the lodge, your own gear, ready to ski- 5:45-7:15. We won't need rock skis. Bring a head lamp, water bottles etc and start warming up at 5:45. Skate Skiing!

ThursdayCold temp cutoff is -20oC for U14's and younger, check environment Canada by 4:00pm (windchill doesn't count as we're sheltered on the trails); -25oC for everyone else. We will be classic skiing. Don't forget your headlamp and water bottle. Yoga inside.

Saturday: The plan has changed: read teamsnap.
Update! We still don’t have a start time for Saturday as it’s -36 Friday night… but we will go ahead with trials on Saturday. Classic race, have your skis waxed. I’m guessing a race start for noon- but won’t really know until we see the warming trend of the day. I am sorry I cannot be more precise than this. I propose race wax skate skis at 10am for Canmore, wax skis for the classic race at 11. Warmups start at 11:45, race start 12:30- U14 and younger race 2.5km Classic and u16-18 race 5km classic; cool down ski until 1pm.

2 options for the Christmas Potluck and gifts: message Claire your top choice.

Option 1: 1pm-2. Tuesday packing night we clean off classics, wax classics and pack everything as it will be too cold to do anything else. Can everyone make this work? Text me if you CANNOT only please. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding.

We are doing this option:

Option 2: Christmas party is on Tuesday evening after prepping classics and we pack up everything else Saturday so we combine dinner and gifts and there’s less food prep for everyone? We would start at 5pm as well so that packing is done by 6:30 or sooner and we can party!
